We have a girlie around these parts that is having a birthday this week. As well as a tea party with some very important people to celebrate the special occasion.
So, of course a new dress was in order.
I basically used my old stand-by vintage dress shape (here is the original tutorial) but didn’t put on the sleeves or a collar.
Just a simple, classic dress kicked up a notch with a bit of colorblocking.
The only other difference to the original tutorial was adding an invisible zipper in the back instead of the buttons. Which, with the color-blocking needs to be pretty perfect in order to look good.
So, I made up a mini-tutorial about how I matched up a bodice with an invisible zipper if you ever need to know too.
Here’s what you need to do:
Then, mark where the bodice meets your zipper.
Both liZ and I have been working on a few other projects during Skirting the Issue that we are excited to share in the next little while.
Stay tuned for regular programming tomorrow.

Great tip.
I had that exact problem with this dress: http://whatsherrymadetoday.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/hello.html
I ended up sewing the ribbon over the join to hide my bad zipper sewing effort 🙂
I must remember this tip next time.
Thanks ♥
