I have to tell you that this is one of my absolute favorite treats in the afternoon. When it is hot and I give the kids a popsicle, this is my go-to snack for myself…..and it is so worth it. No added sugar (I sometimes do if the watermelon isn’t super sweet), but it’s really just frozen watermelon, a bit of water and lime juice, blended to such a smooth and delicious taste. I learned to make watermelon icecream when I was living in the Algarve in Southern Portugal. We had it for dinner one night at a family’s home and I have been in love ever since. It really is that great.
And it is so simple.
All you need to do is freeze leftover watermelon…..which we always have at my house since I am the only one that eats it.
Put in a cup of water, 1 cup of watermelon, 1 Tablespoon lime juice, 1 Tablespoon of sugar (optional) and blend well.
And enjoy your watermelon sorbet…..it’s the perfect summer dessert.

I am going to have to give this a try!! We LOVE watermelon at our house, tho, so it might be hard to sneak some away to freeze 🙂

Perfect! I was just considering experimenting with watermelon sorbet. I can’t tolerate any dairy or sugar, so fruit sorbets for me. Yummy!

I love watermelon it’s the seeds that put me off buying it they’re such a pain. Might have to get some just to try this out though. Looks yummy.

Mmm, I love watermelon. This looks like it’d be the perfect thing on the hot Tennessee days we get (right now it’s 93!)

I do this too, except I also add a pinch of salt. It makes the watermelon taste both sweeter and more “watermelon-y”.
