Movie Nights are a big deal around these parts in both of our families. They are usually reserved for Friday nights and are filled with popcorn, licorice (black for some and red for others) and lots of pillows, stuffed friends and blankets. And, as moms, they just happen to be some of our favorite nights. There is nothing better than cuddles, unmistakable kid laughter and the general craziness that comes when five people are watching movies together — especially when one of the viewers is a toddler who is far more interested in eating popcorn out of everyone else’s bowls than the actual viewing itself.
But what awesome family memories.
And this movie night — well, it was bigger and better. Add in two families, a set of grandparents, neighborhood friends and we had ourselves a party! A Princess Bride Mega Movie Party!
When my husband heard that we were getting a 3M™ Mobile Projector for our movie night he was impressed. But when I let him get it out of the box and set it up, he was like a kid in a candy store. He kept saying “This is really cool, this is so cool.” (Boys and technology!) But it is a really cool gadget (the whole room was pretty impressed). The 3M Mobile Projector that is being sold at Target (learn more and find special offers here) is designed to connect to an Apple device and project anywhere — so, essentially, you can have movies on the wall, on the ceiling or, as in our case, on a white sheet to make our very own movie theater in the family room. You can also watch YouTube videos, family pictures as a slideshow and even TV shows all from your iPhone or iPad!
Here is our setup … an iPhone and the movie “The Princess Bride” on iTunes.
Source
But first, we had to get ready. Complete with mustaches.
and tee shirts……
and then finally it was dark enough for movie time.
And what a swashbuckling movie night it was, complete with sword fights, kissing (and booing kids), and by the time it was over some sleepy but happy kids, parents and even a Nana and Papa.
Now those are the family memories we want to continue.
Okay, this picture is in almost complete darkness but look at how clear and sharp the picture is!
To think that a device that is barely bigger than your iPhone could project such clear and amazing pictures? Pretty phenomenal.
And for our next movie night, well, it is definitely going to be outside! Doesn’t that sound fun for the summer? Or even on vacation!
Now it’s your turn.

Movies have always been a big thing with our family. Scary movies with my little sister have some of the best memories. Something would happen in the movie and she would squeel and run from the room with her eyes covered all the while saying “oh my gosh oh my gosh you guys”. Or John Wayne flicks with my dad. those were a pretty big thing.
But one of the funnest was when we borrowed a big clunky projector from somewhere spread a sheet out on the side of the house and took all my nieces and nephews out there to watch peter pan with the bats and the mosquitoes!

This 3M projector is totally cool…I would love to have one so I can bring the movie night outdoor, especially in the summer. I love family movie night. My son and daughter takes turn picking a movie to watch (limited to 1 per night though). I’m always the one who prepare the snacks and drinks for our fun night cuddling on the couch.

We haven’t done done one yet, either, but have always wanted to! We’d probably invite all the neighbors—little kids and “big kids”, turn it into a big backyard bbq, make a ton of popcorn and watch a movie up on the side of the house. A perfecet way to spend a summer night!

Such an awesome projector – and how great to enjoy a movie outdoors in the summer!
Our family movie nights usually start out by somebody rushing to get the comfy chair. Everybody else settles in either on the couch or floor. If it’s a Friday we’re eating homemade pizza and if it’s a Saturday we’re probably eating an assortment of appetizer-type dishes and snacks.

My movie nights aren’t too fancy or even really anything to brag about. I was never able to have children myself, so its myself and my husband. We curl up with a bowl of popcorn and share the space with our three Dachshunds. I suppose what does make it special is my husband has taught one of our dachies to watch tv. Everytime an animal (real or animated) is on she barks and carries on. It’s pretty comical. She really does watch tv. She even knows the commercials with animals in them (even at the first second they come on). She be in a different room and if she hears one she really likes, she comes running just to see it. I visit these blogs because there are lots of children in my family.

We really enjoy our movie nights every Friday with our 3 girls! We chose to not pay for cable 2 years ago and purchased an Apple TV and a streaming subscription to Netflix. We have not missed cable at all and the girls are allowed to choose 2 movies/shows a week to purchase. Our movie and show collection is quite large after 2 years and we have still saved so much! We are a one tv family and this projector would be perfect for our family room with its big empty walls! I am a stay at home mom and enjoy making movie nights like the real deal by having a themed dinner or dessert to go with the movie we are watching and my girls like to dress up or make a craft too. I love having movie night with my family of choice (friends) too! One night we had a silent film party with just our closest friends and it was so much fun! We all piled into our bedroom and lounged on the bed the floor in chairs…just wherever felt right and then watched “Nosferatu” (the silent version) and it was so much fun! We laughed and talked and shared our thoughts about the effects and stuff…was great!

The best way we do movie night is we grab a redbox or have a previously selected Netflix. Then everyone gets to pick out their favorite candy and after a long Saturday of work, we all relax together as a family.

We love movie night. We’ve been watching old episodes of The Muppet Show. Thanks for the chance to win!

I love movie night! It’s the best. We usually choose musicals.

We have a big screen TV (not huge though) in the basement and every Friday night we do family movie night. We order from Netflix, pop popcorn, the kids get to choose either a soda or some candy and we watch as a family.

We are a new mommy and daddy, so family movie nights are still more adult only! But, we do love to snuggle with our little girl and watch her expressions as we talk and eat and drink wine! Hubby and I put her down, and then we get to finish that red wine! We always alternate on a “you pick two, and I’ll choose from those”!
