$5 Friday–Baby Gifts

 

I have had a few baby gifts to make recently.  For two new little girls, cute Black Apple Dolls.  I decided to make them bigger, so I enlarged the original pattern by 200% and I think they are a cute size.  I used all scraps for this project-extra drop-cloths for the faces and arms, leftover felt for the hair and leftover Starboard skirt fabric for the bodies.  I found some cute tags online (I didn’t save the source, anyone recognize them?) and the gifts are done.
A cute, but inexpensive gift for a girl of any age!
And for a baby boy that is on the way, a self-binding receiving blanket.

 

I did add a bit of white jumbo ric rac inside the self-binding edge to give it a little pizzazz and I liked it. The fabric is some that I already had (Michael Miller, I believe) and so all I bought was the jumbo ric rac.
It would have cost me more if I didn’t have the fabric, so keep that in mind.  If you buying everything, it’s probably more around a $15 gift.

 

Now I just have to deliver them!  (Does anyone else have gifts in their car for awhile before they can get mailed or delivered—I am notorious!

    Here is a good video explanation of how to do it. It was one of the first projects I sewed…and they are fast and easy! To add the ric rac, you are going to cut four pieces and sew them in the outside seams.

    You will make about 10 after you have made one!
