Early last spring I bought this green fabric while on vacation and as soon as I came home I cut out this dress. But then I forgot all about it until this week when I was going through my unfinished project bin.
Luckily the pattern I used (a 1965 Simplicity Pattern #5948) was a size 3 and will still work for Grace this spring. However when I started sewing it up I decided to change a few things—like the sleeves, tie, bias tape, etc.
I sewed it up in a hurry during my girls nap time and when Gracie woke up and tried on the dress I laughed and laughed. It TOTALLY reminded me of my Girl Scouting Days. (Did anyone else participate long enough to leave Brownie’s and go into Juniors with those green vests?) I don’t know, is it the colors? the tie?
There’s something there that just reminds me of the girl scouts.
Maybe we’ve just been eating too many Thin Mints around here and I’ve got the girl scouts on my brain.
Ummmm…Thin Mints.
Super duper cute! I {heart} vintage. It could be the vintage version of girl scout uniforms which makes it that much cooler!
Oh, I love her…and that dress…SO BEAUTIFUL ♥
Very, very cute! It’s the tie that reminds me of girl scouts 😉
this absolutely cracked me up – yes, you definitely have a little girl scout on your hands! Doesn’t mean it isn’t adorable!
Oh that’s awesome! Thanks for the laugh this morning. 🙂
Yes, this totally reminds me of my Junior’s uniform. And its adorable. Plus, it looks like lucky little Grace gets some Thin Mints. Lucky her!
If an adorable little girl dresses in that dress asked me if I wanted to buy cookies, the answer would be “yes! give me 10 boxes!” (and in a gluten free house, I would not even be able to eat them!!) That is how cute this dress is 🙂 The little tie is my favorite!
I love it! So cute.
It does look like a girl scout dress but lots cuter! You could also call it a st patrick’s day dress. 🙂
I love it. And I really love the tie in the front. My daughter would love playing with that tie wearing that dress. Super cute. And I totally see the girl scout in that dress. but it still rocks.
Love it! And I have totally done stuff like that before…I once tried making a Christmas dress for my daughter that ended up looking like something she would wear to an 80’s prom:)
Love the dress! And yes totally takes me about a few (ok, more than just a few) years to when I was in Girls Scouts and a junior. Definitely the green and yellow.
