“God gave us our memories so that we might have roses in December.”
—James Matthew Barrie
Time goes by too quickly. In my mind I just had Ruth..but “just had” just happens to be several months ago now. Every time I turn around I notice how fast my kids are growing up and at least ten times a day I wish I could freeze time.
Days of chubby cheeks and tea parties won’t last forever but how glad I am to have them…a whole garden for my December.
Days of chubby cheeks and tea parties won’t last forever but how glad I am to have them…a whole garden for my December.
A few Saturdays ago my mom and I were at Hobby Lobby when we found a Valentine’s aisle chuck full of awesome felt goodness. It was there that I picked up a 4 pack of these premade roses for $2.99. I knew as soon as I bought them that I wanted to make them into a matching set of rose hair clips for my girls.
So, I brought them home, added tulle, beads, and a hair clip and with in 10 minutes Grace and Ruth were wearing their winter roses.
I had grand ideas for the photo shoot—white dresses, a black back drop, and two faces that I love squished together…it was a beautiful thing. However, there was dinner to be made, homework to be finished, and a last minute poster for a 1st grader to be created. By the time I was ready to take the photos my Grace looked like this:
Curled up and sound asleep on the backdrop.
(And looking, to me, like a little piece of heaven.)
It’s not what I planned but most of my favorite memories weren’t what I had planned either.
So I snapped the photo, snuggled my Grace into her bed, and added another rose to my garden.
Oh my goodness such precious babies!!!
And beautiful winter roses 🙂
that picture is just priceless!
Your girls are beautiful. Like little angels. Love those pretty roses too. 🙂
Now if I could Only grow Roses as Beautiful as these… Then I might take home the Blue Ribbon at the Garden show… 🙂
That sleeping photo is better than anything you could ever plan, so sweet.
So perfectly said. I may have even cried a little when I read it.
THat was so sweet to read. Was the project the 100 days of school project by any chance? We just barely finished ours too. 🙂
Your girls are adorable.
When I first looked st the sleeping angel I thought “wow how did she get her daughter to pider like that?” Mine are horrible “fake sleepers” then after reading realized she really was asleep! They both are absolute angels! Love the clips too!
I’m a phone-tard! “pider” means “pose” sorry!
Your girls are absolutely beautiful! Great pictures. I love the unintended sleeping angel picture. And the hair pieces you made are fabulous. Thanks for sharing.
I think it could not have turned out more perfectly.
Those are so great. I think the picture of Grace is wonderful. Before I read the whole post, I thought you had somehow convinced her to pose like that. I like your garden of memories.
