We noticed lots of trends in 2011! Some of those included chevron projects, ruffles, bold big printed fabrics, and maxi skirts and dresses. Refashioning and up cycling were also still pretty popular projects… (which is such a smart thing)
What were some of your favorite things?
We loved that people were using lots of vintage buttons, and adding more details to clothing; pleats, exposed zippers, lace. We also loved a lot of the colors that were everywhere in 2011—mustard yellow, deep grey, raspberry, and turquoise.
What did you make that you’re most proud of?
In this last year, we had the opportunity to compete in Project Run and Play (a design competition for sewing children’s clothing) and we really enjoyed ourselves. It gave us an opportunity to design things a bit more out of our comfort zone, was a fun challenge to sew on a timeline and most of all we learned a lot.
A few of our favorite outfits from that project include—The Audrey Outfits,” “Disney’s Up Costumes,” and our signature finale looks.
What was your favorite fabric collection or print?
First of all we love vintage fabrics. We love the thrill of the hunt and finding fabric gems in thrift stores that would otherwise be lost. It has almost become an addiction! Also, this year we loved Sarah Jane Studios “Children At Play” line because it has such a vintage feel, as well of the images of children at play—two things that are close to our hearts.
Do you have a favorite sewing book or pattern from the past year to recommend?
We love vintage patterns!
As much as we love ruffles (and don’t get us wrong…we still love them) we are looking forward to using new and different embellishments for sewing in 2012.
Ok, we probably need to take this statement back…because ruffles are still on our minds. So, maybe just using ruffles in a new way? (Any ideas what a new take on ruffles would be?)
What are your thoughts about social media? How is it going for you? What do you love or hate?
We love blogging! It has been such a creative place for us and feel like we have developed skills and talents that we never knew we had—which has been rewarding. We also love to see others’ creativity and enjoy seeing their creative processes as well.
What do you predict for 2012?
We only wish we could see into the future……
But here’s what we would love to see in 2012:
* We would love to see softer, more muted tones of solid fabrics: softer greys, lilacs, creamy oatmeals, soft muted yellows, soft corals, and more! (We know we are making up colors here….but hey, it’s our dream of what we want to buy right now….)
*We also love that classic children’s fashions are coming back. We think we will see a lot more of that in the future.
Can you tell us anything about what to expect from you in 2012? Any projects or life-changing goals you can share?
You will see more the same from us….classic children’s patterns with the addition of modern twists. But we do have some new ideas up our sleeves. We would like to venture more into the pattern drafting world, explore new fabric options, and gain more advanced sewing skills that will give some new details and dimension to our looks.

This post showed up 3 times also on my dashboard… But every time I clicked on the title post it said page not found.. I had to click on the Blog Name to get to you… I am not sure of solutions… I just remember being so Frustrated with Blogger when my Followers would disappear or I was unable to follow others and a BUNCH of other crazy things… I ended up Switching to WP right before Thanksgiving… 🙂

It is showing up just fine in Google Reader for me. No duplicates or anything. I am using Firefox 9.0.1 on Mac if that helps.

I don’t havef acebook and twitter either…but I know I should really get a facebook page together. I hear they are easy to get up and going and a lot of people prefer that avenue for checking out projects and such.
I like your predictions for 2012. I have noticed that needle work – crochet and knitting – is really picking up in popularity too…or maybe that’s just with me. 😉

This post showed up fine and just the once. However, in Google Reader I can see a cute little pirate hat, but when I click on it, it says page not found. I’m using Google Chrome on a Mac. Good luck solving the problems…
Re Socia Media: I’m relatively new to blogging and have found the online community to be so welcoming and friendly, not to mention, a wealth of information..
