*GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED*
One question that we get quite a bit is “how do you get your dresses so full?”
Well, today I have an answer for you…actually it’s a new answer that I discovered a couple of weeks ago. And. I. Am. In. Love.
Ok, there are actually two answers….the first part of the answer is
Use a LOT of fabric. Yes, really, a lot of fabric. For example, if I want a full skirt….I usually quadruple the waist measurement for the full skirt. So, in my case, Hannah has a 20 inch waist…so I usually do at least 80 inches around for the skirt…(or 2 widths of fabric which is 90 inches.)
And the second part of my answer….
Use a pettiskirt or crinoline, which is a must for a full skirt. Here are some good examples of why….
Cute, white dress, right? (It’s the Vintage Holiday Dress….)
But here is the after with the crinoline….
And one more….a handmade vintage dress that Liz found for Hannah that I love.
Before….
and AFTER
Way cuter, huh?
And thanks to Cari {Hi, Cari} who emailed me about skirt fulness I have a new resource to share with you. I was emailing her back and forth about pettiskirts and crinolines and found a great (and reasonable) site to buy them. I bought one that night, got it super fast and am so happy. It is so full and cute. Really. Here is mine…
And do you want to hear the best news of all…..when I emailed Julie of Pettiskirt Style and told her how much I loved the one I bought….she offered a giveaway for one of you!
All you have to do is click on the link below, go to Pettiskirt Style, pick what style you would choose and leave it in the comments! We will pick a winner on Sunday night.
Julie made a page just for us….so you will see the most full pettiskirts and crinolines!
So. Go!

Good Luck!!
Thanks for the post and for emailing me and answering my questions. Thanks for the shout out. I’d love to win!!
I would get the chiffon fluff ruffle bottom pettiskirt. Perfect for underneath an Easter dress.
Ooh I desperately need the chiffon petticoat for my 4-year-old! I’ve made a few 50’s -style dresses for her, and used a rough netting below to give them fullness. She hates them because they itch so much, so the chiffon would be perfect!
