It wasn’t until I had a visitor drop by the house (which was covered in laundry in various stages of being folded) that I realized how bad I had let things get. Since having baby Ruth almost 3 months ago we’ve had a lot going on. Everything from return visits to the doctor and hospital dealing with complications that came from the delivery (problems with my health not Ruth’s thank goodness) to two siblings getting married to the house renovation project of doom.
It’s been a little overwhelming and most day’s I’ve just been happy that we’ve met every one’s basic needs. But I’m ready to get back to “normal” and I need to do better. Not just for me but for my family.
A long time ago I started a Homemaking Experiment and after much thought I’ve decided to bring it back. I’ll be posting more about it soon. But I’m ready to get going and reclaim my life and home and I’m going to use my trusty 16th printing of my 1969 version of the “Art of Home Making” to help me do it. More posts to come….

Good for you! I have a four month old daughter, and I am in a similar boat. I am ready to do this with you 🙂 Let’s just not be too hard on ourselves 😉

What cute shoes! I was totally in that slump right after my daughter was born (and I only have one), then after each of my miscarriages. Still trying to get out of it, though some days are better than others. I’m excited to see/hear more about this project.

Don’t be so hard on yourself, it will come with time. I was suprised how long it took to feel like I have a handle on the house again after my second was born. It wasn’t until Peyton was nearly 6 months old before just the basic house stuff started to not overwhelm me. And still the house gets away on me some days (mine are 3 1/2 and 8 months). Remember years from now will you look back and think Damn I wish my livingroom was cleaner when my kids were little or will you remember the cuddles and giggles you had with them as you rolled around on the floor with them?
