Today we are also doing a blog swap with Maggie from Midwestern Sewing Girl. We will be over at her blog showing you the “semi-vintage-halloweenish’ skirt (how is that for a name?) and she is here.
Also,
So, come on down, Maggie. (I always wanted to be on the Price is Right….:)
Yay! My name is Maggie & I’m the Midwestern {Sewing} Girl…although I adore sewing, I also LOVE to scrapbook, cook, bake, “diy,” take pictures of stuff, and, my newest love, crochet (I’m seriously addicted). You find a little bit of everything at my blog…I hope you’ll stop by!
I’m so excited to be blog-swapping with the girls here at Simple Simon & Co.! I love E & L’s blog…I’m consistently blown-away by what they are able to accomplish with their sewing machines…these are two of my all-time favorite projects:

They say they’ve only been sewing for 4 or so years? I’m not buyin’ it…
I could go on and on about how much talent these girls have, but I digress…on with today’s project…a super-easy, super-quick Halloween Candy Bag! Made from what else? A pillowcase!
This is all you’ll need:
I decided to whip together this little project because my 6-year-old son just informed me that his dangly-legged spider treat bag with his name in big purple letters on the front just wasn’t cuttin’ it anymore. Really?
OK, wait…before we begin…I wanted to make my graphics look a little more worn and distressed, so I took a small piece of steel wool and just rubbed it across my images…
Now…
1. Start by taking your graphics (already printed out – IN REVERSE – onto your fabric transfer paper) and placing them toward the bottom (closed end) of your pillowcase…wherever you think they look best…
2. Transfer your graphics to your pillowcase according the the paper’s instructions…
5. Take the remainder of your case and cut two equal pieces…
6. I want my bag to fit over my son’s shoulder and across his chest like a messenger bag…so I pinned one end of the strap to the front of one side of the bag, and the other end of the strap to the back of the other side of the bag.
7. Then sew the straps on…make sure you go over your stitches a couple of times – you want to make sure they don’t come off when the bag is full of candy…
And that’s it!
A more grown-up trick-or-treatin’ bag…
Thanks Maggie….and if you don’t follow Midwestern {Sewing} Girl…..just go do it now. You will not be disappointed. I can tell you from experience that she has the best projects—just go look at some of her pillow projects and you will totally know what I mean. She is amazing!

Totally fun bag! I’m sad that my printer and laptop aren’t getting along right now or I’d make some for my kids. Thanks for the tip to distress transfers. 🙂
