I showed you the boys’ shorts on Friday….and here is Hannie’s. As I said before, I kind of decided to do an understated 4th this year, and seersucker was calling my name.
And since we were going to be with family at the lake this year for the 4th, I knew that we would be in and out of swimsuits all day…so Hannie’s outfit turned into a 4th of July Swimsuit cover-up complete with a rounded collar and a few pintucks on the front for details.
I actually made this dress out of a Pottery Barn crib dust ruffle that I found new in its packaging at the thrift store for $4. I made this cover up out of the white fabric in the middle of the crib skirt and some leftover seersucker from the boys’ shorts. And I’ll show you on Thursday what I did with the bottom ruffles to make something for me. (Shocker…I never sew for myself these days.)
I’ve wanted to make a round neck dress for a while, but when I looked for a tutorial online I couldn’t find one. So, I made it up. I would change a few things for next time (and I promise I will also take pictures) but for a swimsuit cover up it works perfectly.
Especially nice and cool for a very hot 4th. Hope you all had a great day with friends and family and are still enjoying a long weekend.
Liz will be here tomorrow….but I will see you all on Thursday.

I love that … it has such clean simplicity but the rounded collar and pintucks add so much. It’s really great!
