Today’s vintage challenge is from Maggie from Midwestern {Sewing} Girl. We love her blog. I first saw her when she was featured on someone’s blog with her darling ruffle clutches. And I immediately had to check out her blog—and was hooked! Her blog is amazing. And her photographs are spectacular! Seriously, go check her out!
Thank you so much, Elizabeth & Liz for inviting me to participate in this amazing challenge! I consider it a real honor and privilege to be included in such a talented group of women…
Hi everybody! My name is Maggie & I write a little blog called Midwestern {Sewing} Girl. I’m so excited to show you what I’ve created with my vintage items. But first…here is what the girls sent me…
1 fat quarter of lovely blue floral vintage cotton, 2 vintage wood buttons, beautiful charcoal grey lace, chocolate brown bias tape and the most wonderful circular embroidered/cross-stitched small tablecloth…here are some of the amazing details in the tablecloth…
I also used my own stash of natural linen &, if you can believe it, an old window sheer that I found in my stack of stuff…
And, finally, this is pattern that I used for the top portion of my creation…

So here it is…this is what I made…hope you like it…
I used the blue floral fat quarter for the bodice of the top and the tablecloth as the main part of the top…
I loved that the tablecloth was circular because it lent itself to making a very interesting back to the top…I just cut it in half and attached it to the bodice…easy peasy…
You can see that I used the window sheer for the ruffle on the bottom of the linen pants…
Then I sewed the lace down the outside seam of the pants…I like the tuxedo-like feel it gives to them…and I just randomly placed the wooden buttons over the ruffle…
It’s hard to tell from these photos, but I used some of the lace and some of the bias tape as headbands in Kate’s hair…
So there you have it! I had the best time with this challenge…feel free to stop by my blog at any time to say “hi.”

When I first saw that table cloth I loved it. And then it just sat in the stash waiting for the right project….this was totally it.
It makes a perfect top and how it meets in the back…it’s just perfect. I’m so happy to see it put to such good use.
Thank you so much for joining us.
