Today was Simon’s last day of kindergarten.
I will resist the urge to tell you all how much I love him and how much my heart aches as he grows wondering when he’ll stop holding my hand, singing me songs, telling me stories, and asking me “what if”….and knowing that the time is coming sooner than I’d like.
I won’t tell you how I sneak into his room every night after he falls asleep to steal just one more kiss and whisper in his ear how much I love him.
And I’ll spare you the details of my soaring heart when I see him snap his fingers as he grasps a new idea or watch him tackle something hard and come out victorious.
But I will say this: I am ready for summer. I am ready to have my boy back home all day. I am ready for inventions and experiments and building and bugs. I am ready for some serious play time with my son.
Thank goodness for summer. I’m more than ready. I don’t think I could have waited even one more day.

oh goodness! he is just a sugar! i do wonder if those sleeping little monsters know that we sneak those kisses and i love you’s… will they remember that we did that when they are grown, every once and a while Eva will say she loves me back in a groggy sleep talking kind of voice and sometimes Cora will sling her tiny arm around my neck with her eyes still shut tight…
love that! have fun with your little guy this summer!

I often tell them “I love you” while they are sleeping just a little too loudly just so I can get that really, really sleepy “I love you too” response.
He’s a sweetie pie that lil guy of yours!

Oh, I so know what you mean. I still have the littlest one at home, but he is talking about how he wants to go to school too. I love the fact that he loves to go, but at the same time I think:”Nooooo, you can’t, you have to stay my baby and be home with me!”:)
He looks adorable, by the way. Have fun this summer!

What a beautiful boy. The bond between a child and mother is so strong and hard to articulate sometimes. I do the same by the way, look in on my girls each night, and look at them in ore.
I am so glad that you are looking forward to playing lots with you son this summer- gorgeous stuff. xxx
