Here’s Selina…..

i was SO excited when my package came in the mail from Elizabeth and Liz… i literally squealed just a little and got right to work….

my package included tiny red ric-rac, red piping, yo yo’s, a couple of buttons and some crazy red fabric… totally not a print i would have picked, but that is the challenge right!? so of course the first thing i tried to work out was how i was gonna make this fabric look modern and fresh… i turned to J crew for some inspiration…

i knew i could make this dress happen with a bit of tweeking…

i pulled out my Simplicity 2380…

added some blue striped fabric and some serious ruffles…
…to create this little number for my 8 year old diva

just ruffling the fabric updated it a ton!

i used the piping on the sash {ps… piping is HARD!}

and the ric-rac to trim the hem line

i poked little holes through my yo yo’s and strung them on a shoe lace to make a cute chunky necklace

accessories are important!

i loved working on this project because it helped me find a different perspective… ANY fabric can be made into magic if you style it just right! now to make one in my size! i am off to the thrift store to score some more strange vintage fabric so i can make myself a ruffle dress!
