Ok. Right now I really am loving to make Gracie skirts out of vintage napkins. I made this one from just one napkin that I bought for $1 and some leftover polka dot fabric from another project. (I love the scalloped edges.)
In my mind it was going to be a fun summer skirt….something to be worn with a white button down shirt…but as soon as I showed it to Gracie she said, “OH! Minnie Mouse clubhouse dress!” and it was all over.
She is convinced that it is a Minnie Mouse outfit and there is nothing I can do but go with it. So here it is:
And here is my unhappy model. Standing on a chair and refusing to give up the vice grip on her dolls. Minnie and Mickey both have to be held while wearing the skirt. She loves them….and talks to them…and watches movies with them…and then pretty soon she’ll start asking me about when we are going to go to Mickey’s house because he “misses” her.
Then I get unhappy and my face looks like her face in the picture—soon Gracie, soon, we’ll get there one of these days. Until then don’t worry, I’ll let you wear your black leggings with this skirt and you can hold both your dolls as long as you want.
Oh Disneyland, one day I’ll be taking pictures of my kids inside your gates…but not today. Today I have to teach preschool after I finish sorting the laundry but before I teach a night class on making freezer meals.
It won’t exactly be a vacation but for a little while we can pretend…and during that time we will be at the happiest place on earth.
Thank heavens for tiny imaginations.

I wish we were in Disneyland too today….sitting in the sun at the Tea cups (my favorite ride) and eating the Oreo and Butterfinger brownies from the little shop near the Winnie the Pooh ride. Mmmm.
One late night we made my brother race back through the park for those brownies. They are probably on Main st. somewhere, but we always get them from that little shop.

So cute! Love the scalloped edge. Isn’t repurposing fun? 🙂
