Recently I went to the bridal shower my friend was having for her daughter. This is part of the gift that I took:
I went with the idea of that old saying something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
What was old? The apron was made using a pattern from the 50’s and out of a vintage sheet I had purchased awhile back. (I really, really loved that fabric.)
What was new? In her package were some spanking new oven mitts and hot pads—the exact color of the waistband on her apron.
What was borrowed? I borrowed the pattern to make the apron from my mom. (Although after I finished I realized it would have been cuter had I made up a pocket somewhere. Oh, well, next apron…)
What was blue? The apron band, the hot pads, the oven mitt, and the delicious blueberry muffin mix that was also in her package.
I’m a nerd. What can I say? I loVe themed gifts.
Oh…and speaking of nerd…remember how I said I really, really loved that vintage sheet fabric?
Well, it’s grown into an obsession where I’ve been buying up any cool old sheets I can find to make me some stuff, to wear, right now…Yes, I’ll be wearing sheets and I’m not ashamed.
I’ll show you why later…and I promise you’ll want to be wearing them too!

Such a fun idea! I love themed gifts, too, although I’m usually not committed/clever enough to really think it through and make it awesome 🙂 The apron is adorable and I can’t wait to see your sheet outfits! Makes me think of the Sound of Music’s curtain lederhosen 🙂

Yep. I’m a thrifty sheet-seeker, too. I have a yellow floral skirt that gets loads of compliments and people’s jaws just about fall through the ground when they learn I made it from a sheet.
lol…love it.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
(p.s. Zoe was THRILLED to get the ruffley skirt in the mail. She couldn’t wait to get the package open and she had to put it on right away. Thanks again!)
