Last week I was at a thrift store with Elizabeth when I found a set of 4 olive green vintage napkins for half off their $2.99 price tag.
I instantly knew what I wanted to do with them and between that idea, their coolness, and the price, I just couldn’t pass them up.
The very next day I made Grace this skirt. I used two of the napkins. I cut the lace off of the two sides and sewed them together making the tube. Then I cut off the top fourth of the napkin to make it the right length. And finally I put some elastic in around the top.
Looking back, I probably should have used 3 napkins so that the skirt would be fuller however, I’m hoarding the other two napkins and waiting for another project with their name on it. But until then, I’m posting this for my $5 project. ($1.50 for the napkins + about $0.70 for elastic = A skirt for $2.30.)
ps..I bought some more napkins destined for skirts….these ones are yellow and scalloped and then there are some that are…well…let’s just say, I’ve got some more that are ready to go.

That was a good thrifting day….I love, love, love little yellow gingham glasses I got that day.
And the skirt turned out super cute!

What a great idea! I love turning one thing into something totally different especially when the beginning and end results seemed no way connected! Thanks for the inspiration!
