So, another great thing about Kona cotton is that it dyes well….so I’ve heard…..and so I wanted to try it. Again, I wish I were getting paid in fabric….but no, it’s just a personal opinion.
Project #2 is a lace skirt tutorial. Two skirts actually. I found some awesome vintage lace at the thrift store for $2.99 that I wanted to make into a lace skirt that was inspired by this even more awesome dress (she is what I hope to be someday). Again, I just made a simple skirt, layered the lace, and then sewed it on row by row.
I am loving the cream lace one on the white cotton….love it.
But then I decided to try dyeing the other one…..In my mind I wanted a coral pink. But I got more of a “Tang-colored” skirt…..and I don’t know about it. I am definately not an expert at color mixing dyes yet….but there’s always more dye and more crafting another day. It will be cute for Spring.
Project total for two skirts…..$9.00…..one for Hannie and one for a thank-you gift.

I really love this! I just saw a beautiful lace wedding dress for $30 while thrifting the other day. It could make quite a few of these skirts! Never occurred to me to dye it!

I love this!! Do you have a tutorial or can you tell me how to make one?
elizabeth says
Cheron…..I made a similar skirt with tulle….but the directions are pretty much the same. Just substitute the tulle for the lace. Here is the link
