As I have mentioned before, we have been watching The Brady Bunch on PBS in the early evenings mostly to clam (or calm) the crazies while I make dinner. And I have been obsessed with Cindy Brady’s dresses. Well, the pattern that I chose was just that. A 60’s throwback.
I did change it up a bit. I wanted bell sleeves like view A, but when I got them sewn on they didn’t look so good, so I put 1/4 inch elastic in the bottom which worked perfectly. Also, there was supposed to be a zipper in the back, but I didn’t have any white or black zippers (just pink, turquoise, and navy?) and since it was nap time and I wasn’t going anywhere I improvised which, truthfully, I like better. I just put a piece of elastic cording and a button in the back and sewed up the back to the yoke where there was already facing to line it with. (As if I am making any sense….moving on.)
So, Cindy Brady, eat your heart out.

Liz, that dress is so stinking cute! And I love the changes. The ruffles would have made it crazy but the black trim looks AWESOME!

I love the dress. My two yr old also loves pockets. She loves finding them on her outfit everyday.
I would be interested in a sew-a-long!!! I have only made a couple of peasant tops before. I have never worked with a paper pattern, but would love to learn! I have a huge pile of patterns in my craft room just waiting to be used.
