Simon made this bug mask at a recent birthday party. He loves it. This is him wearing it while watching Superman.
The birthday party he attended was hosted by a super cute, super crafty mom who gave the kids these plastic masks and a pile of supplies and let them get busy. Obviously it was a huge success. (A far greater success than Simon’s party a week earlier where my husband dressed up like an alien and scared the crap out of all his little guests….)
Anyways…the love of the bug mask has led me to an idea I will by trying for Halloween next year. It goes like this: A pack of kids each bringing some sort of costuming supplies (no more than $5 worth) like plastic masks, feathers, pipe cleaners, dad’s old white shirt, broken eyeglasses, etc. and dumping them into a pile. The kids are then given a time limit and left to their own devices to create a Halloween costume.
The outcomes are guaranteed to be entertaining. The idea is so delicious to me I may need to make up an excuse for a costume party before next Halloween.

I love, love this! It would be pretty hilarious to see all the little kids inventing their own costumes. Let the creative juices flow! I also love that Simon has a candy corn glued to his mask right between his eyes!
