Remember that I am currently working on “The 2 A’s—Attitude and Appearance.” So today I’ll share a little of The Art of Homemaking’s insights on attitude. (I’d suggest getting a beverage…this may take awhile.)
In her book Ms. Hoole outlines 8 steps toward improving your attitude as a homemaker and they are:
#1. Gain an appreciation for your calling as a homemaker.
#2. Learn to visualize the over-all purpose of your work.
#3. Be at your physical best at all times–both in appearance and health.
#4. Take steps to secure good relationships between you and your husband and you and your children.
#5. Learn and practice good homemaking skills. “Skills bring thrills!”(….since I love this book and it was obviously written before innuendos I’ll just ignore that catchy little piece of advice and move onto the next step…)
#6. Analyze yourself and be willing to overcome personal problems.
#7. Plan frequent association with people who have good attitudes.
#8. Keep busy so you’ll only have enough time to think positively.
So there you have it…the 8 steps to improve your attitude.
I’ve actually been thinking a lot about #2—the over all purpose of what I’m doing. And, I have to admit that my attitude towards many of my daily/weekly tasks has changed…far more than I would have imagined. But this is isn’t my progress report so…
…until later I’ll be working on #8 I don’t have a problem with the keeping busy part but since today is bathroom cleaning day I’ll be working on the positive thinking. Blech! I hate scrubbing toilets! Hum…I think I better start the bathrooms by making a quick trip to the gas station for a soda—that will improve my attitude! Seriously…it will.
