I am soon to be getting an excellent sister-in-law and I was invited to a shower for her a few nights ago. Now, while she is admittedly worth far more than $5, portions of her gift from me were only $5. (Don’t worry, Stacy already knows we’re poor and that I make almost all the gifts I give.)
The first thing I bought Stacy was a vintage cook book for $2 at a thrift store (can’t remember which one—it was before they even got engaged). I really am into old books with any housekeeping or cooking advice and since Stacy is a baker extraordinaire I thought this book would be awesome for her.
Next her colors are green, black, and white. So, when I saw place mats, oven mitts, dish towels, etc, that were green and white I snatched them up. After bringing them home I added rick rack and the circle flowers to make them all match.
Then I packaged the whole bundle up in a black and white bag. Sure, my gift may not have been as extravagant as some of the other gifts but it was cute and at least it didn’t make anyone blush.
