Ok, so the photo looks like it came from a 1980’s advertisment but it didn’t. Liz took this picture of me with my bag just a few weeks ago. Maybe I just still belong in the 80’s. Anyways….
My $5 Friday project is a Farmer’s Market Bag. I made it out of a rug from the Dollar Store, $2.13 worth of handle cord from Wal-Mart, and scrap fabric from my bin.
First I made some flowers and cut out the shapes that I wanted on the bag. Then I folded the rug in half and pinned the shapes and flowers on the rug. Next I unfolded the rug and attached the flowers and shapes by sewing them ontop the rug.
After this I refolded the rug in half and sewed down each side. And finally I attached the handles by sewing the cord to the top inside edge of the rug.
Easy. Cheap. And useful…really useful. I use the bag all the time. I made it for trips to the farmers market but recently it’s been used for my kids toys and books on our summer trips to the park, parades, and grandma’s house.
