Today we are excited to share this Mini Middle Nine Patch Pillow Tutorial as a part of Riley Blake Designs “Backyard Roses” fabric tour!
Actually it’s more of a pillow layout with all the measurements rather than a tutorial.
Here’s the thing. I think this fabric line is adorable. So within 24 hours of getting the fabric in my hands I had it all cut up into a quilt for Ruth’s bed….and when the quilt top was almost finished I got side tracked and made a pillow from the scraps to sit on top of the quilt…because I’m easily sidetracked…and really wanted to make a matching pillow. Sooooo, I will be able to share the quilt top with instructions soon but today….I am sharing the pillow with it’s instructions.
Let’s get started.
*This pillow cover is made to fit a 16″ pillow form.
*The middle is a 9 patch quilt block made using 9 squares each measuring 2.5″ and then squared up to be a 6″ block. (Yes, I know that makes the outside squares a tad smaller than the inside square when it is sewn up but…like I said…I get side tracked and I was watching Man Vs. Food while I was working…and it was an icecream challenge….and accidents happen. Anyways…..)
*The side panels each measure 6″ x 5.5″
*The top and bottom panels each measure 5.5″ x 16″
*The back panels each measure 10.5″ x 16″
And then…..you sew them all together. For full tutorials check out this post on HOW TO MAKE A PILLOW COVER that will walk you through the process step by step.
Pillow covers are so easy to make….if you have never made one you really should. They are a great afternoon project and are so fun to change up!
Now..to get back to finishing up that quilt….
