Today we are joining in a tour of Nancy Zieman’s new book, Quick Column Quilts. I love the concept of this book, because I think quilting sometimes can be so intimidating….but the idea of piecing everything together as columns makes everything fit together quickly and easily. I chose the Hexagon table runner for my project. So, my project became a Halloween table runner to use this fall!
Although I was really tempted by this beautiful design!! Love the look of these different sized tumblers all in columns (so that is going to be my next project).
But I think the hexies for Halloween will be perfect.
I used Kona Cottons for the solid colors and a tiny gingham cut on the bias for the binding. The quilting was my first attempt at wonky lines, I usually go with straight lines or send my quilts out to be quilted, but I really wanted to do the whole process.
And wonky? Well, they could have been better….but I do love that quilting is imperfectly perfect in its own right.
I used a black and white chevron for the back and I do like that the lines make it look like a spider web on the back. And
And one more on the desk (my table doesn’t have very great lighting;).
And lots more information about Nancy’s tour is here below…..look at the line up of these amazing quilters. Wow!
Nancy Zieman is pleased to announce that 27 bloggers will feature various projects or techniques from Quick Column Quilts, starting September 4 and ending September 17th. Please follow along!
