A Sewing Studio Giveaway and an announcement!!!

As some of you may (or may not) know Elizabeth and I are the ladies behind Project Run and Play.  But it hasn’t always been that way.

We competed in Season 2 and loved every second of it—the themes, the sewing, and the other women in the competition.  Back then there were no prizes—it was just sewing for the love of sewing.  And love it we did.  For us it was sewing heaven.  So when we had the chance to purchase Project Run and Play we jumped at it and have been having a wonderful time over there making changes, starting a sew along group, and adding prizes ever since.  We love having a place dedicated only to sewing children’s clothing.
But almost from the beginning we knew that Project Run and Play would need a sister site.
Behind the scenes Elizabeth and I always have more sewing going on than just children’s clothing…although we rarely share it…you see, we both enjoy sewing for ourselves.  Sure, we give you sneak peeks of our sewing every now and then but we’ve kept it pretty much wraps until now.  Today we are officially launching Project Sewn.  A site dedicated only to sewing women’s clothing!!!
And because of that launch we want to do a HUGE giveaway!!!!

One lucky person is going to win almost everything they need for an entire sewing studio.  (You supply the table and we have most of the rest of the things you will need to start making beautiful things!)  The retail value of the prizes is well-over $650 dollars–seriously great stuff!!!!

The winner will receive:

* 50 Spools of Coats and Clark Thread
*One fat quarter bundle from Riley Blake Designs
* An Olfa rotary cutter and cutting mat
*And a SINGER dress form

The winner of this contest must have a US or Canadian mailing address to enter (you can apply if you are international if you know someone that will pay to mail it to you.)

    I just recently got a new iron and I joke that I never use it. It’s only for sewing. No clothing in my house ever gets ironed!! I do love my sewing machine because it was my grandmother’s. Awesome giveaway!

    Oh, wow! My favorite sewing tool…………….you’re really pushin’ it here! I JUST got a see thru ruler! It’s plastic, 5″ wide X 23″ long & I L. O. V. E. it!!!     Oh..i love my sewing machine. I received it when I was 17 years old. I am now 53 and it is on it’s last leg. I dearly love it and it has carried me through the raising of 4 children…all the clothes and projects imaginable. I now sew for my 2 little grand daughters, quilt, home decor, etc. Thanks for such a grand give away.

    I forgot to say that sewing machine IS my favorite tool, because my mother bought it for me to see if she could get me into sewing. She sewed a lot for me as a child, but she works so much now, she doesn’t have the time.

    My least favorite tool is my old cheap sewing machine, and with 5 grown children, 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, I could sure do a lot of clothes making for me and them with that wonderful machine. I’m on disability and can’t afford to buy a better one. 🙁 I have always wanted one of those fancy sewing machines that do everything. I have my Grandmother’s old Goodrich treadle machine too, but it’s not usable. So I could use all of those prizes, and my favorite would be the machine!!!

    My favorite tool is blue painter’s tape. It can be used for so many things…..getting a precise seam allowance by using it as a guide on my machine bed, marking guide on my rulers, anchoring templates for more accurate cutting….and removing paper from paper piecing!! And it’s very cheap!!! Leaving more $$ to get fabric with! Love this generous giveaway!! WOWZA!!!! Thanks for the chance!

    I would have to say ‘quick unpick’, comes in handy for a couple of things..guiding fabric under the needle, unpicking and cutting thread when your scissors are buried beneath a pile of fabric..lol

    I have several that I really like but I think my favorite is my chalk mechanical pencil by Dritz. It uses chalk (white, green and pink are available) that is about the size of the lead that is used in regular mechanical pencils. I love it. And I love this giveaway. Would love to win this.

    This one’s a tough call. I recently got back in to sewing after a three year break, but am still very much a beginner.     I do a lot of embroidery by hand so my favorite tool would have to be my Gazelle stand, which holds my second favorite tool – Q-snap frames. Without them my hands would be painfully arthritic.     I couldn’t do without my auto threader on my machine; my eyes are aging quickly! I also like having a cutting table that is higher than standard to be able to stand for longer periods cutting my fabrics; fewer aches in my neck, shoulders and back. 🙂 Can you tell I’m in the over 50 club? 🙂 (I am a fb fan as mickey louth)

    My favorite tool is my rotary cutter with my ripper being a close second. The cutter allows things to be cut quickly and easily with no strain on my wrists and hands – a new blade makes it like cutting butter!! My ripper is a close second because ‘perfect’ doesn’t always happen and when I am rushing I make mistakes – my little ripper makes it so easy to start over again!

    I love having a plate with a magnet attached underneath to put my pins in while sewing. It makes it so much easier, not having to struggle with the pin cushion sliding all over!

    I have Loved to sew since my great grandmother taught me when I was about 6. I learned on her treadle machine and have used it since. I just recently was given a newer electric machine and I love it. It’s not the best but it gets the ob done and my legs are much happier to have it! 🙂

    my “secret” little polka dot sissors. I found them in a quilt shop and went back and got the only two pairs they had left I love them, they are small and help me with cutting details on smaller pieces and other things like trim and ribbon, etc. Plus they are just cute with little polka dots, and I love all the colors and patterns of fabric and thread, makes it more fun with the tools you enjoy using.

I use it for just about anything that needs to be removed from the locked jaws of the feed dogs or opening a seam there I forgot that I wasn’t to sew.
